About the Service

Computed tomography (CT) is an advanced diagnostic method that uses X-ray radiation to obtain extremely accurate cross-sections of the patient's body. This allows the veterinarian to precisely assess the condition of organs and tissues, make an accurate diagnosis, and plan further treatment or examinations. It is one of the most precise imaging examinations, often providing information unavailable with traditional X-ray or ultrasound.

Details

  • Diagnostics of musculoskeletal diseases (including spinal disorders), orthopedic disorders, changes in the head area (including inflammation, tumors, injuries, congenital defects, ear diseases)
  • Diagnostics of respiratory, digestive and urinary system diseases, and in some cases also diseases of the nervous system
  • During the examination, the patient (animal) is placed on a movable table that slides into the CT scanner. To achieve the highest image quality and avoid movement, the examination is performed under general anesthesia. The results are then analyzed and described by a veterinary radiologist. The entire examination is non-invasive, painless and highly valuable diagnostically.

Information on the impact of the activity on human health and the environment - 1.01.2026

The clinic uses, among other equipment, devices that produce ionizing radiation for animal diagnostics — an X-ray imaging device and a computed tomography (CT) scanner. The X-ray facilities where these devices are used were commissioned based on permits issued by the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency. The clinic monitors the exposure of staff and the public based on environmental dosimetry carried out by an accredited laboratory. Clinic staff have been trained in radiation protection by a qualified radiation protection inspector from RADIOVET – radiovet.pl. Properly shielded walls and ceilings of the rooms, adopted working methods, implemented processes and procedures, as well as regular dose readings, ensure that the clinic’s activities involving exposure to ionizing radiation have no negative impact on human health or the environment.
